Drum Carders
These carders are currently for display only. We
are so busy with our Kitten and Big Tom
carders. We just don't have the time to do the
custom carders, sorry.

If you are looking for a beautiful artfully made tool, look no further.
You have found the "Fancy Kitty model 8501 drum carder"
We at Anderson Originals are proud to offer the "Fancy Kitty" brand fiber drum carders. We have been
avid spinners and crocheters for many years, and were always curious as to why a drum carder had to
look so utilitarian. A box with wire wheels. Why could it not be functional, yet attractive? We decided to
address this issue by producing our own brand, hand crafted in the good old USA. Drum carders for
the discriminating buyer.
Our drum carders feature fully adjustable drums mounted on steel axles with steel ball bearings on
both the swift and licker-in for silky smooth lubrication free operation. They have three sixteenth inch
thick steel handles for flex free strength. They are built using modern methods, quality parts, and hand
crafted care. The drums come per-adjusted for optimum performance; however, can be easily
readjusted for your varying requirements.
It has a 4 to 1 drive ratio.
It features a poly belt drive, that does not slip, for smooth operation.
It has one half-inch long carder wire giving you the ability to produce thick bats.
It is 22.75 inches in length; 14 inches wide with the handle removed, and weighs approximately 15
pounds depending on the species of wood from which it is made.
They are all made from 100% solid hardwoods. The woods available are hard maple, red oak, white
and black ash, black walnut, wild black cherry, and lacy sycamore. They can be made from exotic
imported woods by special request.
They are finished with 4 hand rubbed coats of clear lacquer.
It is dressed with many solid brass parts and all adjustment screws are stainless steel.
It has an 8.5 inch wide drum that will produce bats 22 inches long.
It can be equipped with you choice of 54, 72, 90, or 120 tooth per inch cloth on the licker-in and swift.
This should work great for an all around carder as well as your finest fibers. You may also purchase
additional drums assemblies and cloth densities separately.
Rubber nonskid feet, two hold-down clamps (that connect to two installed stainless steel screws, set in
brass inserts), and a bit to fit the adjustment screws are included with the carder.
With the exception of the screw-on handle, it will arrive fully assembled and ready to use at no extra
charge.
We offer a life time limited warranty on all parts and workmanship, to the original buyer, as well as parts
and repair to anyone.
