The Little Tom XL is a motorized drum carder using the same 17" wide x 38" circumference swift, licker, feed tray, and tung oil finish as the Fancy Kitty Big Tom XL. It uses the same drive system as the Fancy Kitty Kitten.
The frame is 5.5" tall and the total height of the Little Tom is 13.5". The length is the same as the powered dual motor Big Tom XL at 22.5" long, and weighs 38 pounds.
This carder comes standard with a brush attachment and has a single-motor motorization Kit that is functionally the same as the “Little Tom” motorization kit. All "Tom" carders come with a thorough instruction manual, an 8x3" burnishing brush, doffer hook, and several other helpful tools. We've also widened the space between the carding drum and the carder frame for extra ease when removing any fallen tangled fiber.
The carder's motor kit will accept voltages of 90v-270v, 50 or 60Hz, but will require a plug adapter to change the plug from the North American style to the European style electrical plug. Carder will operate from 12v DC with a very slight modification and pull less than 100 watts at maximum speed.
The Little Tom Wide XL motor kit uses the same motor as the Big Tom but is a single motor versus the dual motor of the Big Tom. It is functionally the same as the Little Tom motor kit.
The Little Tom XL has the same 4 to 1 feed to card ratio as the “Kitten”. No clamps required, and you can card in the middle of a table. It is constructed with 3/4" solid American red oak & has a gorgeous Tung Oil finish. It is 22.5" long, 19" wide, and 13.5" tall.
The Little Tom XL features a 17" wide, 12" tall swift equipped with the carding cloth of your choice, which will create a batt 17 inches wide and 38 inches long. The Licker-in is equipped with coordinating carding cloth.
Both axles run in sealed ball bearings for super smooth & maintenance free operation.
We offer an auxiliary drum assembly that can be changed by removing and re installing the four swift adjusting screws. It is an option available in the following available cloth densities: 54, 72, 90, 120 tpi . This means you can card any type fiber with ONE drum carder.
