We are pleased to offer the Fancy Kitty "Big Tom XL". The DOUBLE WIDE cottage industry powered drum carder. We will put this carder up against all comers. It is rich with many features that many of the most expensive cottage industry carders do not have, but low in price.

-Overview-

It is constructed with 3/4" solid American red oak & has a gorgeous Tung Oil finish. It is 22.5" long, 19" wide, and 15" tall. The Big Tom wide weighs 50 pounds.

Big Tom XL wide features a 17" wide, 12" tall swift is available in various tpi carding cloth and creates a batt 38" long. The Licker-in is also available in various tpi carding cloth. This allows you to select the combination that best meets you personal fiber carding needs.  Please select your choice from drop down menu when you place your order.
It features not one, but two gear head motors that can be individually adjusted for speed, and they are both reversible. One motor runs the licker-in, the second motor runs the swift. This means you don't just have one or two carding ratios, you have infinite control of the feed to card ratio, from extremely slow to fast on either the licker-in or swift.

The power is transferred to both drums via a tooth belt pully and belt system that is as strong as the chain drive, but quiet and requires no maintenance.

Both axles run in sealed ball bearings for super smooth & maintenance free operation.

It comes with a mounted brush attachment, an 8x4 special burnishing brush, adjustment tool, fiber pick, hemostats, and doffer stick as standard equipment.

We offer an auxiliary drum assembly that can be changed by removing and re-installing the four swift adjusting screws. It is an option available in the following available cloth densities, 54, 72, 90, 120, 190 tpi. This means you can card any type of fiber with ONE drum carder.

The Tabletop wool picker is used for picking wool. This is done to separate or tease the locks of wool. Some wool types may need more picking then others. Pickers can take the drudgery out of the picking task. This picker has metal points on a flat board, with a sliding assembly also with metal points that moves forward and backward to separate the fiber.

This machine passes the wool from the front to the rear, where it can drop into a container. The picker will tease, separate the ends of the locks, as well as blend wool prior to carding. This will greatly improve the ease of carding, whether by hand or by drum carder. It is also possible to spin the fibers directly from the picked condition to create an interesting and irregular texture, also dyed fibers blended together through the picker can be spun into interesting variegated yarn. We do not recommend using it to pick wool in the grease, as the seeds and vegetation will fall out more easily from washed wool. While some debris may fall out during picking, grass and burrs will not. The picker's purpose is to open the wool to prepare it for carding, or for spinning direct from the picked condition.

The Bench Wool Picker has 224 angled stainless steel points that DO NOT RUST, and are great for most wools and fine fibers.

The Wool Picker is made from sanded North American red oak and red oak veneers and is ready for whatever finish you wish to apply, if any.

SAFETY:
Please treat this picker with GREAT RESPECT and take the appropriate care when using it. Never use this picker when children are in the immediate area. Use the same care you would use with any dangerous cutting device. PLEASE DON’T PURCHASE OUR PICKER UNLESS YOU ARE A RESPONSIBLE INDIVIDUAL WHO WILL ENSURE ITS SAFE USE AND LOCKED STORAGE.

We accept no responsibility for any damage or injury attributed to the wool picker. In addition, for your safety, we recommend wearing leather gloves.
